Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, the Indian National Congress (INC) is sinking like the ship Titanic did.

Mr. Modi, on the 6th of April, addressed a public rally in Nanded, in support of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates in the State.

During the rally, Mr. Modi criticised the promises made by Rahul Gandhi, the INC President, in the INC manifesto. Modi said, Rahul Gandhi, by announcing a minimum income guarantee scheme for the poor, did so without thinking about the individuals belonging to the middle class. He said, Rahul Gandhi will give benefits to the poor by increasing taxes, which will be a burden for the middle class.

Modi, during his public rally, also said, the INC is not thinking anything about the middle class society, which is the backbone of the Country.

Modi also took a jibe at the decision of Rahul Gandhi to opt for a second seat by contesting the Lok Sabha elections from the Wayanad constituency, where the majority community of Hindus is a minority.

Rahul Gandhi announced, he will contest from two seats, one from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh and one from Wayanad in Kerala.

The criticism is said to be a campaign strategy of the BJP, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections against the INC.

The two major parties contesting to form the Government of India are the INC and the BJP, in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The elections are scheduled to begin from the 11th of April and end on the 19th of May 2019.

In Maharashtra, major parties such as the Shiv Sena, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP,) the BJP and the INC will contest a total of 48 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The Maharashtra Lok Sabha elections are divided into four phases, scheduled on the 11th, 18th, 23rd and the 29th of April 2019.

The results of the elections will be declared on the 23rd of May 2019.
