The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) on the 19th of March, announced, the Party will not nominate the sitting Members of Parliament (MPs) who lost the 2018 Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh.

Anil Jain, the General Secretary of the BJP in Chhattisgarh, said, “In order to give a new face, a new zeal to the party in Chhattisgarh, the BJP has decided not to field ten of its sitting MPs or any of those defeated in the 2018 assembly elections.”

Though the Party is using this tactic in Chhattisgarh, it is not confirmed if the same method will be applied to the other two states where the BJP lost in the 2018 Assembly elections.

Apart from Chhattisgarh, the BJP lost power in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

The Indian National Congress (INC) won the Assembly elections in these three states and formed the Government.

The Party will nominate new candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. The senior leaders of the BJP will face the consequences of this move, which might create a rift between the Party members.

The reason to nominate fresh faces in Chhattisgarh is to ensure the Party’s victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

In the 2018 Assembly elections, the BJP managed to secure only 15 Assembly seats out of the 41 in Chhattisgarh.

After losing power in Chhattisgarh, it would be interesting to see whether the BJP manages to gain power after securing the majority of the Lok Sabha seats against the INC.

Chhattisgarh will contest a total of 11 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, which are divided into three phases.

The Lok Sabha elections in Chhattisgarh are scheduled to be held on the 11th of April, 18th of April and 23rd of April.

The major parties contesting the Lok Sabha elections are the INC and the BJP.

The results of the Lok Sabha elections will be declared on the 23rd of May 2019.

Stay tuned for further updates about the Lok Sabha elections.
