Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, travelled via road to reach Purulia, West Bengal to address the ‘Gantantra Bachao’ (Save Democracy) rally.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) denied giving Mr. Adityanath the permission to land his chopper in West Bengal, which caused a delay in the commencement of the rally.

The rally, which was supposed to start at 1:00 P.M., began at 4:00 P.M., as the CM was on his way and the paperwork required to conduct the rally was not in place.

He was also expected to address a public rally in Dinajpur, West Bengal. However, he addressed the Dinajpur rally over the phone.

Mr. Adityanath said, “Mamata ji must accept that one should not misuse the administration in a democracy. The manner in which the administration in West Bengal is functioning should not be acceptable at all.”

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) complained about the actions of the Mamata Banerjee led TMC to the Election Commission (EC.) The BJP said, instead of following the principle of democracy, the West Bengal Government is creating problems for the BJP in the State.

However, amid so many hurdles, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister finally reached Purulia in West Bengal via Jharkhand and started his rally with the slogan ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai.’

Recently, Amit Shah, the President of the BJP, addressed a public rally in Midnapore, West Bengal. The rallies conducted by the BJP are said to be the Party’s campaign strategy ahead of the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.

The Lok Sabha elections are scheduled between April and May 2019 and the major parties contesting are the Indian National Congress (INC) and the BJP.

Stay tuned for further updates.
