Twist In Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash’s Case

The Delhi Police added an interesting twist to the Chief Secretary of Delhi (CS) Anshu Prakash’s case. Today, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Delhi, Harendra Singh told the Court the CCTV footage taken from CM Arvind Kejriwal’s residence was tampered. He further added they sent the footage to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for examination.

Earlier, Prakash alleged two Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs trashed him in Kejriwal’s house. Prakash further added in spite of Kejriwal being present, he did not take any action. The CS’s advisor V. K. Jain said Prakash arrived at the CM’s residence past midnight. Singh said the arrival of the CS at the CM’s residence does not match with the CCTV timings.

The defence lawyer shot back pointing out a 40 minutes gap in the CCTV footage. He further added the footage has not been tampered with and the FSL results will clear the doubts. Singh said the incident occurred in the CM’s drawing room and not the camp office.

The footage was taken from Kejriwal’s residence on Friday. Singh said, “We had asked for the CCTV camera footage and hard disk on February 20 itself but there was no response. So we decided to come down (Kejriwal’s residence) and examine it.”

Police examined a total of 21 CCTV cameras and a hard disk. The police were quoted saying 14 CCTV cameras were working while 7 were not. Police said, “We believe the incident occurred between midnight of February 19 and 12:15 A.M. on February 20.” There was no CCTV camera in the room the incident occurred.
