A 10 year old girl was killed after a giant merry go round wheel unhinged in Anantapur District in Andhra Pradesh. Six people including three children were seriously injured and rushed to a hospital.
The accident occurred after a bolt on one of the trolley cars unhinged, crashing the trolley. The victim was identified Amrutha who had visited the fun fair with her family.
The exhibition was being held at a junior college ground in the district. The fair was packed with people as it was the weekend. The injured people were immediately rushed to Anantapur General Hospital for treatment.
According to eyewitnesses, they noticed the bolt was loose and alerted the giant wheel operator. However, they claimed the operator failed to act quickly as he was drunk.
The locals caught the operator after the accident and thrashed him. A few other bystanders rescued him and handed him over to the police. The District Administrator ordered a probe into the accident.
