On Tuesday, Policemen arrested around 75 history sheeters from a birthday party in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The Chennai police nabbed the criminals from a birthday party organized for Binu, a history sheeter accused in more than 28 cases.
Binu was celebrating his 47th birthday when the policemen landed as uninvited guests. The party was organized in a lorry shed in Malayambakkam village near Poonamallee in Chennai. It is said many alleged criminals were invited to his birthday party.
Around 6 P.M., Pallu Madan was on his way to the party when the police intercepted him during a routine vehicle check. Madan is a history sheeter wanted in a few battery charges and extortion cases. On finding about Madan’s criminal records, the police interrogated him. During the interrogation, Madan spilt the beans about the party starting at 9 P.M.
Assistant Commissioner of Police K. Kannan said, “Pallikaranai police alerted Ambattur Deputy Commissioner S. Sarveshraj and he, in turn, alerted Police Commissioner A.K. Viswanathan. A meeting was called around 9 P.M.” Special teams were assembled with more than 60 personnel. Though the personnel were in plain clothes someone raised an alarm. The crowd began to flee using the cover of darkness.
A Police Official said “The police nabbed 60 men, but nearly a dozen escaped. Special teams have been formed to catch them.” However, around 75 history sheeters were arrested. A total of 45 two wheelers, 7 cars, 15 weapons and phones were seized. It is said Binu managed to escape along with two of his accomplices.
