Today, Police officials rescued a 5 year old boy who was kidnapped last month from a school van in East Delhi. A Senior Delhi Police Official said the kidnappers opened fire on the policemen during the rescue operation. The Official said, “Two kidnappers named Pankaj and Ravi were injured in retaliatory firing by the police. While Ravi succumbed to his injuries, Pankaj had to be admitted to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital (GTB) Hospital. Nitin, the third kidnapper has been arrested.”
Another Official said the kidnappers rented a flat in Ghaziabad where they held the boy. Police intercepted a man supplying them information and learnt about the hideout. It is said the police laid a trap near Loni Border but Ravi opened fire on spotting the policemen. One of the policemen hit by a bullet but survived as he was wearing a bulletproof jacket.
The student was handed over to his parents. The student’s grandfather said, “We got to know around 1 A.M., that our child has been found. The doctor said that he needed rest.” The kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs. 70 lakhs for the kid.
