On Tuesday, the Kushaiguda Police arrested Ishanya Pathireddy a 20 year old B.Tech student in connection with the drunk driving accident that killed a cobbler. T. Ashok was sleeping on the footpath when a car with four underage students lost control of the vehicle.
The cobbler was crushed to death and his son was injured and rushed to a hospital. The police began an investigation and collected CCTV footage from Up The Roof Top Lounge. The engineering students were drinking illegally at this bar before the accident happened.
The CCTV footage is to prove that Ishanya was the one behind the wheel when Ashok was crushed.
Kushaiguda Inspector K. Chandrashekar said, “The footage was collected as an evidence to prove that Ishanya was the one who drove the car. Apart from that, eyewitnesses were also questioned and their statements have been recorded.”
Ishanya was arrested and produced in Court after which she was taken into judicial custody. The girl was at the bar with three of her friends Srujana Kowta (19,) Amrutha Bharathi (20) and Harika Reddy (19.)
The Inspector said, “In the footage recovered from the parking area, Ishanya was seen helping two of her friends, Amrutha Bharathi and Harika Reddy, getting into the car.”
A case has been booked against the owner of the pub Charan Reddy under IPC Section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 21/76 of the City Police Act (For running the business beyond the permissible timings.)
The Prohibition and Excise Department sealed the bar for serving liquor to underage people. The Excise department has requested senior officials to place the bar license under suspension.
