Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan held a Padayatra in Vijayawada on Friday along with the political parties CPI(M) and the CPI. The yatra was flagged off by Kalyan from the Benz Circle to Ramavarappadu Ring Road. This yatra focused on getting Andhra Pradesh the Special Category Status (SCS.) CPI State secretary K. Ramakrishna and CPI (M) State secretary P. Madhu were also part of the yatra.
On Saturday, Kalyan attacked the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu stating the CM was mortgaging the SCS for personal gains. The actor turned politician explained his Padayatra in Vijayawada yesterday was the first step towards the fight for SCS.
At the press conference held after the Padayatra, Kalyan said he would think twice before planning a fast unto death to secure the SCS. Kalyan was also questioned about joining the communist parties. To this, the Jana Sena Chief said the mainstream parties TDP and YSRCP failed to fight for the interest of the people.
Pawan Kalyan was quoted saying, “Both the ruling and Opposition parties have surrendered to some pressures [from the Government] and failed to put up a fight for the State. I supported the TDP hoping that Naidu’s four decades of experience would help AP. But, when it did not serve the purpose, a public movement like this surfaces.”
The politician also announced that his party along with the Left parties, Lok Satta and other organizations would continue holding public programs. He announced yatras in Anantapur on the 15th April, Ongole on the 24th of April and Vizianagaram on the 6th of May.
Pawan also sternly said he would not be part of the all party meeting called by the TDP. He also explained if a fast unto death was the only way to get the bifurcation assurances implemented, he would do it with utmost sincerity.
