Today, the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi inaugurated the National Legislators Conference at the Central Hall of the Parliament House. The theme for the two day conference is ‘We For Development.’
The National Legislators Conference aims at providing a platform to the MPs, Legislative Assemblies and Councils across India to share their views on development goals. More than 175 public representatives are taking part in the conference.
PM Modi was quoted saying, “It is essential to identify the areas where districts need improvement and then address the shortcomings. We have the manpower, we have the skills and the resources. We need to work in a Mission Mode and bring a positive change. Our aim is social justice.”
PM Modi said once we decide to change at least one aspect in districts, we will get the momentum to work on other shortcomings. In each State, there are a few districts with strong development parameters. One can learn from them and work on weaker districts.
Mr. Modi further appealed to the public saying, “Public participation always helps. Wherever officials have worked with people and involved in the development process, the results are transformative.”
Many union ministers, chief ministers and presiding officers are present at the conference.
