Mumbai and the regions around it are gearing up for yet another day of heavy rains. The city experienced incessant showers on Tuesday that resulted in the delay and closure of transportation services and left roads waterlogged.

There are a number of commuters still stuck at stations since last night and finally made their way home early morning as the rain subsided.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Mumbai has declared another 24 hours of heavy rainfall in Raigad district and Mumbai.

The IMD recorded 225.3 mm of rain from 8:30 A.M., to 11:30 P.M., on Tuesday. This figure is categorized as ‘extremely heavy rain’ by the IMD officials.
Andheri and Borivali were affected the most with recorded 208 mm and 204 mm of rainfall respectively.

On Wednesday, a warning of high tide at 12:03 P.M., has been issued. The government has also instructed all schools and colleges in Mumbai to remain closed in wake of the torrential rains.

Flights at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport were also affected due to low visibility on Tuesday night. One SpiceJet flight with 183 passengers overshot a wet runway during landing and got stuck in the mud. The passengers were evacuated from the flights through the emergency chute last night.
