Today, the mortal remains of the veteran actress Sridevi Kapoor would be brought back to India. On Sunday around 1:35 P.M., industrialist Anil Ambani sent his private jet to Dubai to escort Sridevi’s mortal remains. Senior airport officials said the flight will return back to Mumbai once the postmortem and further procedures were completed. Sridevi’s husband and younger daughter, Boney Kapoor and Khushi respectively, will fly back with the remains.
Yesterday, the 54 year old actress passed away due to a cardiac arrest. Sridevi was attending her nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding in Dubai with Boney and Khushi. Boney was quoted saying he found Sridevi lying unconscious in the bathtub. Boney called a friend for help and intimated the police about her demise at 9 P.M. Sridevi’s brother in law Sanjay Kapoor said, “We are shocked. She had no history of heart disease.”
The officials of Reliance Transport and Travels Pvt., Ltd., said they submitted a tentative flight plan along with international overflying rights to the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority. An official said, “We should be able to take off within an hour of the mortal remains reaching the airport.” On being questioned about the delay, the Indian Ambassador in UAE, Navdeep Suri said, “Postmortem is standard practice in all such cases. Can take a bit of time. Working to expedite but it is in the hands of (the) Dubai authorities. Our team is on standby to assist once local authorities complete their processes.” Later, the UAE police officials said the autopsy has been completed and they are awaiting laboratory reports from the General Department of Forensic Evidence.
Many actors and politicians took to Twitter paying their tributes to Sridevi. A message from the Kapoor family was quoted saying the public veneration will be performed between 9 A.M. and 11:30 A.M. at Bhagya bungalow in Mumbai. Further, the cremation will be held around 1 P.M. at Pawan Hans cremation in Juhu, Mumbai.
