Amaravati: The investigation into the two-year-old stone-pelting case on former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is tightening its grip on those allegedly involved. Police have uncovered evidence pointing to a planned conspiracy orchestrated by the then Nandigama MLA Jaganmohana Rao and his brother, MLC Aruna Kumar, close allies of YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy. Their names are expected to be added to the accused list soon.
The incident occurred on November 4, 2022, during Naidu’s “Badude Badudu” program in Nandigama. At 6:30 PM, as his vehicle passed Rythu Bazar, stones were hurled, injuring CSO Madhu. Investigations revealed that two days prior to the event, Jaganmohana Rao and Aruna Kumar held a meeting with their followers, forming three teams to execute their plan. One team cut power along Naidu’s route, while two others launched the stone attack.
Initially, the case was watered down, with the then Vijayawada Police Commissioner attributing it to random acts, drawing widespread criticism. Evidence, including videos released by TDP, was disregarded at the time. However, the current investigation has used the same evidence to identify and interrogate suspects. New sections, including 120(b) for criminal conspiracy, have been added, signaling more arrests soon.
