The Tamil Nadu Police has been deployed outside the Kallakurichi Government Medical College, where the body of a 17-year-old body is kept. Notably, a school student jumped from the hostel terrace after allegedly being harassed by two school teachers.
The matter created a ruckus and violent protests in the Kallakurichi region, leading to vandalism at the school premises. In view of the violent protest, the State police deployed security outside the Medical College, as the parents of the victim would be given her body.
As per the Madras High Court’s directions, the victim’s body will be handed over to her family on July 23, following which her final rites will be conducted.
Meanwhile, in the case of the Kallakurichi student death, the matter and various petitions are pending with the Madras High Court and the Supreme Court of India.
Speaking of the case, the parents of the victim filed a plea to conduct a third postmortem of the girl, which the SC refused to entertain.
Meanwhile, protests broke out in Kallakurichi, where buses were set ablaze and school property was vandalized, amid the death of a class 12 student.
Furthermore, Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department team is investigating the death of the girl, by suicide.
