According to locals, a pro Hindutva group was taking a Ram Navami procession from Devarakota temple. Once the procession reached its end point near the Gulzar Mosque Market, a few people began pelting the mosque.

District Superintendent of Police Vishnu S. Warrier said this was an unfortunate incident and miscreants part of the procession pelted the stones. The glass panes of the mosque were damaged. A saffron flag was also thrown inside the mosque by the people from the Hindutva group.

The people of the community decided to protest and demand justice. Everyone gathered around the mosque staging a protest for justice against the miscreants. The protestors added fuel to the fire by pelting stones at the Ram Navami procession.
