The Telangana High Court asked Hyderabad’s police to take strict action against a quack who crushed a new born girl child with her bare hands in Gayatri Nursing Home. The Court asked the Police Commissioner to appoint a “responsible officer” to investigate this case.
The case came to light when R. Sandeep Yadav filed a Public Interest Litigation. Yadav provided the Court with a tape that showed an unqualified woman crushing a new born baby girl to death.
The video was watched by the Bench with Action Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice K. Vijaya Lakshmi. The Bench was enraged by the horrifying video and demanded immediate and strict action against the accused.
The Court’s order was clear and the police immediately booked a case under the Medical subsection 5 of the Termination of Pregnancy Act 1971. The nursing home was also booked under subsection 2 (Termination of pregnancy by a person who is not a registered medical practitioner.)
On the 3rd of April, the Medical and Health Department admitted the heart wrenching video was authentic. After this the nursing home was sealed by the authorities.
