Prathyusha Parakala, the only woman from Telangana who completed the expedition to Antarctica was felicitated in Hyderabad on Thursday. Parakala traveled to the Southernmost part of the world with 90 Global Climate Force Ambassadors from 25 countries.
The expedition began in February and went on until March for 40 days. During her expedition, Prathyusha learned about the deteriorating condition and aspects of Antarctica.
She said, “It is a unique blend of leadership development and up to date education on climate change and sustainability.” Every year, renowned environmentalist Sir Robert Swan conducts expeditions to Antarctica.
British Deputy High Commissioner Andrew Fleming and Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) Vigilance attended the felicitation event.
Last year Parakala was selected to be part of the Climate Force: Antarctica expedition 2018. Parakala was the only woman selected from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. She is also a popular Radio Jockey for Radio Mirchi. Parakala dedicated her life to saving this planet that many have forgotten.
Parakala is a regular high altitude trekker in the Himalayas which added to her capability of joining the crew.
