Today at 8 A.M. the counting for the First and Second Phase of the Gujarat election polls began. The Gujarat election polls gave the BJP a kickstart but the Congress pulled up in an hour giving the BJP a tough fight.

Ahead of the counting the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Gujarat B. B. Swain said, “At 37 places, a total of 182 counting halls have been created. There will be 14 tables for each Assembly Constituency where from Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) will be counted.”

Swain added the counting will begin at 8 A.M., with the Postal Ballots first and the EVM countings will commence at 8:30 A.M. “Around 20,000 security personnel will be deployed at counting centres,” Swain further added.

In the first two hours of the counting, the BJP is leading in 97 Constituencies while the Congress is leading in 81. The Chief Minister of Gujarat Vijay Rupani is in the lead with 7,600 votes by the end of round 3 of the counting in Rajkot West.

Most of the exit polls projected the BJP as the winner. Congress is catching up behind hoping for a better show in the State governed by the BJP for 22 years. Four out of five exit polls predicted more than 100 seats for the BJP.

The fate of these two major Political Parties will be disclosed by evening.
