Yesterday, a passenger bus fell into a deep canal after breaking the railings of Balighat bridge in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district. It is said the driver lost control of the bus due to low visibility. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) engaged in the rescue operations. They pulled out the bus from the canal with the help of four cranes.
It is said 50 passengers were travelling in the bus. On the way to Malda district, the bus fell into a deep canal near the Domkal Subdivision. Reports state, a total of 37 people have lost their lives and the rescue operations are still underway. Ten women and 2 children were among the ones who lost their lives.
A few clashes started around the area after the locals complained of slow rescue efforts. However, normalcy has been restored in the areas as of now.
