Over the ages, women have been victims of cyber crime across the world. But in a turn of events, a Vadodara woman took revenge on her boyfriend by creating a fake Facebook ID. This event came to light when the youth came across his fake profile with private pictures of him on the ID. These included some objectionable pictures of taking a shower in a hotel room posted on this social media account.
The guy who recently broke up with his girlfriend suspects that she might be the one posting exposing pictures so as to take revenge. The guy along with his family approached different cyber crime departments in Ahmedabad that are specialists in cyber laws to find a solution to this problem which includes blocking the Facebook account.
The guy in a statement said that he is not sure as which girlfriend might have done it as he was in a string of relationships, some simultaneously of which he has given names. The Internet Awareness Day was celebrated on February 9, at an event held by the cyber crime branch to create awareness. The department stressed on the vulnerability of both the genders in cyberspace.
The Ahmedabad cyber police said that they receive oddly 300 cases every month. In these cases 40% are women who are facing harassment by leaking of personal information that range from mobile numbers to fake profiles and morphed pictures. Also, there is always a risk of harassing by stalking online which stresses the importance of increased cyber awareness and protection that should be followed while on cyberspace.
