Visakhapatnam: Former Minister Gudivada Amarnath strongly criticized the coalition government and its allied media for spreading false propaganda against YSR Congress Party Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Speaking to the media on Friday, he accused vested interests of orchestrating a smear campaign against Jagan for the past 15 years.

Amarnath highlighted the persistent allegations surrounding the power sale agreement with SECI, despite Jagan providing a detailed explanation. “The agreement was between SECI and the State Government, with no involvement of individuals. It was finalized after thorough discussions in the cabinet and recommendations from a committee that reviewed the proposal for 45 days,” he explained.

He questioned how SECI could be labeled as a broker for the Central government and slammed the baseless allegations. “While Chandrababu Naidu purchased power at ₹5 per unit, YS Jagan’s government secured it at ₹2.49, creating substantial savings for Andhra Pradesh,” he added.

Amarnath also pointed out the hypocrisy in reactions to industrialist Gautam Adani meeting political leaders. “When Adani meets Jagan, motives are attributed, but when he meets Chandrababu, it’s celebrated,” he remarked.

He accused Chandrababu of burdening the state with ₹86,000 crore in debt and reneging on his promise to reduce power charges, whereas Jagan’s governance has saved ₹1.10 lakh crore.
