2 Killed and Several Injured in West Bengal as Fire breaks out in a Government Hospital

Murshidabad: A fire that broke out around midday in the Baharampur district of West Bengal took the lives of two women while severely injuring many others.
The major concern regarding the outbreak of the fire was that it happened right beside the neonatal department due to which many children have fallen prey to the effects of smoke inhalation.

“Two causalities were reported. Fire has been brought under control. There is no need for panic”, said the Chief Medical Officer of Bahrampur Medical College S. Saha.

Three fire engines have been rushed to the hospital and it took more than three hours to subside the flames which engulfed the building. The pictures show the staff and patients trying to break through the window to escape the fire that took the lives of two. CM Mamata Banerjee has ordered for a thorough investigation into the incident, although the cause for the fire is suspected to be a short circuited air conditioner near the children’s ward.Cq2d2wPWEAEfTTZ
