Adhir Ranjan, the President of the Indian National Congress (INC) in the Lok Sabha, was appointed as the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC.)
Om Birla, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, on the 25th of July, announced the appointment of the members of the PAC Committee, led by Adhir Ranjan.
The Committee comprises 15 Lok Sabha members and 7 Rajya Sabha members. Out of the 15 Lok Sabha members, 9 are from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) whereas the remaining are from opposition parties.
The BJP members of the PAC Committee are Jayant Sinha, Ajay (Teni) Misra, Satya Pal Singh, Subhash Chandra Baheria, Sudheer Gupta, Darshana Vikram Jardosh, Vishnu Dayal Ram, Jagadambika Pal and Ram Kripal Yadav. The opposition party members are T.R. Baalu (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam,) Rahul Ramesh Shewale (Shiv Sena,) Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Janata Dal [United,]) Balashowry Vallabbhaneni (Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party) and Bhartruhari Mahtab (Bihu Janata Dal.)
On the other hand, members from the Rajya Sabha are Rajeev Chandrasekhar, M.V. Rajeev Gowda, Naresh Gujral, Bhubaneswar Kalita, C. M. Ramesh, Sukendu Sekhar Ray and Bhupender Yadav.
Apart from the announcement of the PAC Committee Chairman and members, Om Birla also named the chairpersons of the Public Undertakings Committee, the Estimates Committee and the Committee on Welfare of Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs.)
Girsh Bhalchandra Bapat will be the Chairman of the Estimates Committee, Meenakshi Lekhi will lead the Public Undertakings Committee and Kirit Premjibhai Solanki will be the head of the Welfare of SCs and STs Committee.
