BJP National President Releases Party Manifesto Of 10 Promises For Assam Elections

J.P. Nadda, the National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) released the Party manifesto for the Assam Assembly elections. 

On the 23rd of March, Mr. J.P. Nadda addressed a meeting at the BJP office in Guwahati and released the manifesto.

Some of the major promises made in the manifesto are the National Register of Citizens (NRC) for Assam’s protection, delimitation process to protect political rights of Assam and its culture.

The BJP President said, “We will protect genuine Indian citizens and detect infiltrators to ensure the Ahom civilisation stays safe.” Other promises include welfare schemes, financial assistance, construction of dams around Brahmaputra River for extra conservation of water, especially during floods. 

Mr. J.P. Nadda said, “We have gained momentum of development. We are standing for a big leap. With these aspirations, we have put our words in 10 commitments to the people of Assam.”

Here are the 10 key points of the manifesto:

1) The BJP promised to end floods dredging through Mission Brahmaputra. Under this, it has promised to build big reservoirs around the Brahmaputra River.

2) The Party proposed to raise financial aid to Rs. 3,000, given to 30 lakh deserving families under the Orunodoi Scheme.

3) All ‘naamghars’ (prayers home) in Assam would get Rs. 2.5 lakh each to improve their infrastructure.

4) To protect Assam’s ethnic culture, the BJP ensured to work for the removal of encroachers. It also promised to work towards a corrected NRC to detect illegal infiltrators and protect legal residents of the state.

5) The Party also assured to protect the political rights of Assamese people by speeding up the delimitation process.

6) The BJP assured land rights to all landless people by giving them land ‘pattas.’

7) Free education in all government schools, free bicycles to all girls from Class 8 as part of Mission Sishu Unnayan.

8) The Party promised to make Assam a self reliant state in food products through macro and micro planning.

9) The party would generate 2,00,000 government jobs in the next five years and 8,00,000 in the private sector.

10) The party also promised to create 2,00,000 entrepreneurs every year, followed by 10 lakh entrepreneurs in five years.

The event was attended by the Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, the Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and the State Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Meanwhile, Assam is all set to conduct the Assembly elections for 126 seats. Major parties contesting the elections are the BJP and the Indian National Congress (INC.)

Assam will vote in three phases starting from the 27th of March. The first phase would be on the 27th of March, followed by the 1st of April and the 6th of April.

The results of the Assam Assembly elections would be announced on the 2nd of May.
