Pakistan should brood on deteriorating relations with India- FM Arun Jaitley

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley blamed Pakistan for having strained relation with India. He added that Islamabad must brood on the cause behind these tensions. At the HTLS day 1 he said that “It is a serious situation and from the day this government has formed and even before that, India has taken one step after another and tried to improve relations with Pakistan.” He also said our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a lot of steps that can be considered unconventional. And the response to these advances of peace and friendship was attacks on  Pathankot, Uri and most recent at Nagrota and Samba, to which Pakistan can be held responsible.

Adding to this, he said, “This cannot be normal as far as Indo-Pak relationships are concerned. If there are tensions, it’s for the (sic) Pakistan to introspect really why there are tensions.” When the topic of U.S., presidential elections and the change in regime came, FM Jaitley promptly replied, the relations between India and the U.S.A., are only expected to strengthen in the future.

He said “I have not the least doubt that India’s relations with the United States would continue to be on the same plank as it was, probably growing and maturing almost by the day.” Adding to this he said that “This was an unusual election as far as the U.S., was concerned. When one (of the) world’s most powerful democracies, through a fair electoral process, take (sic) a decision, we have to accept the decision.”
