Budget Session: Houses Adjourned Over No Confidence Motion Protests

Everyone eagerly awaited the Budget Session in Parliament today as the no confidence motions were expected to be discussed. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) led by Chandrababu Naidu moved two notices against the Modi Government.

The YSR Congress Party led by Jagan Reddy moved one notice against the Government. Both the parties are protesting against the Center for refusing a Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh.

Two minutes into the Lok Sabha and the House was adjourned till noon. As Speaker Sumitra Mahajan walked into the Lower House, the TDP members began sloganeering. Chairman Venkaiah Naidu attempted to calm the crowd who refused to listen. Speaker Mahajan then announced the House was adjourned till noon.

Unfortunately, the Rajya Sabha also failed to continue after the yelling and screaming by the TDP and AIADMK MPs. The Upper House was adjourned for the day and will reconvene tomorrow.

Talking about the no confidence motion TRS is in two minds on whether to back the motion. TRS Parliamentary Party Leader K. Keshava Rao said they support the Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh. But the party questioned if TDP and YSRCP can rally 50% of the House to win the motion.

The TRS is also contemplating support as they fear this might give TDP a political advantage. The party also highlighted it was at a bad time especially when the TRS is to lead the Third Front.

Shiv Sena MP Arvind Sawant declared his party would abstain from picking a side. The party has blatantly refused to choose between the Center and the opposition.
