India is enraged by the fact Khalistani terrorist Jaspal Atwal was invited to events for the Canadian Prime Minister. Justin Trudeau assured his invitation was canceled and stated action would be taken against the person who invited Atwal.
Trudeau said, “We take this very seriously. The individual in question should have never received an invitation. The person and department responsible will take full responsibility for his actions.”
Social media blew up when pictures of PM Trudeau and Jaspal emerged. The pictures were taken at one of the events the Canadian PM attended in Mumbai.
This mistake has caused a huge embarrassment to the Canadian Government. However, the Canadian PM was unaware of Jaspal’s dark past. The External Affairs Ministry has begun an investigation on Jaspal. The department is digging to find out how Jaspal got an Indian visa. They are also questioning the Canadian staff to answer how a terrorist was cleared for the Canadian PMs events.
Atwal was a Sikh separatist who attempted to assassinate a Punjab Minister in Vancouver in 1986. Atwal and his three accomplices were sentenced to 20 years in prison. But the verdict was overturned in an appeal and the four men including Jaspal did not serve their sentences.
At present Atwal is associated with the Media Wave Communications, an Indian radio channel set up in Canada. It has been confirmed Jaspal Atwal did not travel with the Canadian PM’s official delegation. Jaspal traveled to India on his own on the 11th of February. But the bigger question is how did Jaspal get his visa approved after being convicted for assassination.
