On Friday, a two-judge bench of the Calcutta high court ordered the CBI to probe into the allegations of a bribe about the senior state politicians and ministers of West Bengal. This case was unearthed by a sting operation that was carried out by the Naradanews.com website.

The Acting chief justice Nishita Mahtre and justice T. Chakraborty informed the CBI to carry out an initial inquiry in 72 hours and if the probe demands then file a FIR. This case was handed to the CBI as a senior police official was listed in the corruption unearthed in a sting operation. The bench also said that the police have been the puppet of the Trinamool Congress Government and hence will not be in the investigation.

In May 2014, T.S. Thakur and C. Nagappan had ordered the CBI to investigate the operations of deposit-raising firms such as Saradha and Rose Valley. It was through this investigation that the bench came to the conclusion that politicians were involved because of the inability to trace the money. Some of the ministers involved in the case were Madan Mitra (former transport and sports minister), Srinjoy Bose (Rajya Sabha MP) and Rajat Majumdar (vice president.)

The TMC struck at the CEO of the portal Narada, who was arrested by the Kolkata Police and taken for interrogation. The court ordered no action to be taken against him as interrogation is underway

This sting operation by Naradanews.com has put on public domain ahead of the 2016 Assembly Elections in West Bengal. It featured 12 TMC leaders, ministers, MPs, MLAs and even IPS officers who were working for a Rajya Sabha member and were accepting cash from a member of a made up company.
