Ahead of the campaign yatra launch, the INC leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and others paid floral tribute to the late Rajv Gandhi’s memorial in Tamil Nadu.  Notably, Mr. Rajiv Gandhi was the former Prime Minitser of India and leader of the Indian National Congress.  Mr. Rahul Gandhi, the former President of the INC, started his day with a visit to his father Rajiv Gandhi’s memorial in Tamil Nadu’s Sriperumbudur, where the former he was killed in a suicide bombing in 1991.

After the visit, Mr. Rahul Gandhi shared an emotional tweet, “I lost my father to the politics of hate and division.  I will not lose my beloved country to it too.  Love will conquer hate.  Hope will defeat fear.  Together, we will overcome.”

Later, Mr. Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to attend an event at the Mahatma Gandhi Mandapam in the evening where Mr. M.K. Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, would hand over the national flag to him for the yatra launch.

The most awaited Bharat Jodo Yatra would be launched at 5:00 P.M., with a rally at Kanyakumari.  The foot march would begin from the 8th of September, Thursday.  Led by Mr. Rahul Gandhi, the INC workers and leaders would walk around six to seven hours every day to cover 12 states and two union territories over the next 150 days, all the way from Kanyakumari to Kashmir.  Speaking about the yatra, it would be 3,500 kilometre long yatra, dubbed by the Indian Natoinal Congress as the longest political march.  The yatra has been organised to raise voice against the misrule of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and an effort to unite India.

All state unit presidents of the Indian National Congress would organise the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ in their respective states in solidarity with Mr Gandhi.  Furthermore, as per Mr. Rahul Gandhi, the yatra is the Party’s biggest ever ‘Jan Samparka programme’ during which they will try to connect with the common people on various issues, including inflation, price rise and unemployment.

Notably, approximately 50,000 Indian citizens across the nation have registered to participate in this massive mega rally, padyatra.
