On the 4th of July, India recorded 6,49,889 cases of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

In the last 24 hours, India reported the biggest single day spike, which is 22,771 cases.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR,) on the 3rd of July, India tested 2,42,338 samples, out of which 22,771 tested positive for the virus.

While Maharashtra recorded a highest single day spike, Tamil Nadu also recorded nearly 4,000 fresh cases and crossed 1 lakh cases of the Novel Coronavirus.

The total number of positive cases in Maharashtra is 1,92,990, in Tamil Nadu total cases are 1,02,721.

After Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, Delhi’s Coronavirus cases are also increasing rapidly.

In the last 24 hours, Delhi reported 2,520 cases, taking the total to 94,659 cases. 

Despite having COVID-19 cases under 20,000, the Telugu states, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are also witnessing huge spikes in the cases of the Novel Coronavirus. 

In the last 24 hours, Telangana reported 800 plus cases, whereas Andhra Pradesh recorded 837 fresh cases. 

Other states which have the highest number of cases are: Gujarat (34,686,) Uttar Pradesh (25, 797) West Bengal (20, 488,) Karnataka (19, 710,) Rajasthan (19,052,) Haryana (16,003) and Madhya Pradesh (14,297.) 

The pandemic disease affected nearly 11,189,325  people worldwide and took the lives of 5,29,063.

Nearly 6,297,150 have recovered from the disease. 

Top nations with the highest number of COVID-19 cases are:

The United States of America, 2,890,588 coronavirus cases and 132,101 deaths. 

Brazil (1,543,341 cases, 63,254 deaths.)

Russia (667,883 cases, 9,859 deaths.)

India (649,889 cases, 18,669 deaths.)

ICMR along with the Bharat Biotech International Limited of Hyderabad also entered the first phase of human trials of the new vaccine named COVAXIN.  

Bharat Biotech and Zydus Cadila  got an approval from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) for human clinical trials for their potential vaccine for Coronavirus.

If the trials which are going to be in two phases are successful, India would  launch the vaccine on the 15th of August. India would also be the first nation to come up with a vaccine for this pandemic disease. 

However, an official announcement regarding the launch depends on the trails and is yet to be announced. 

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) is conducting drug trials and expected to get clinical results soon.
