Mandsaur has been the center of the farmers’ protest that has been happening from June 1st in Madhya Pradesh. The district has been placed on high alert on Thursday after the violence increased.

According to reports, on Friday, the curfew will be relaxed from 10 A.M., to 6 P.M. The farmers have been protesting in Maharastra and Madhya Pradesh demanding fair crop prices and a loan waiver. As the violence increased, the police opened fire, which killed five and injured several protesting farmers.

The government deployed anti riot paramilitary forces in the violence hit areas. Amidst this, the State Government sent a detailed report of violence and firing. The government admitted a lapse in administrating orders and said the farmers had died in the police firing. Eight were gravely injured as part of this.

In an attempt to politicize, the Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, along with senior Congress leaders and Sharad Yadav of JD(U) tried to visit this area. This was hampered by the police, who arrested them. They were later released after being detained for four hours in a guesthouse.

The party called this cowardice of the Modi government. K.C. Venugopal, the AICC general secretary said “The arrest of Rahul Gandhi and other senior Congress leaders reveal the political cowardliness of the Modi government.” However, BJP called Rahul’s visit an attempt at a photo opportunity.

Venkaiah Naidu, the CJP Union Minister, speaking about Rahul said, “It is unfortunate that the Congress is politicizing the issue. It is instigating, fueling violence. Its vice president now wants to visit the place as part of his photo opportunity yatra which he undertakes on a regular basis.” Rahul was accused of trying to ‘instigate violence.’
