Cyclone Ockhi To Make Landfall in Gujarat

Cyclone Ockhi makes its way towards Maharashtra and Gujarat after creating havoc in the South of India. Mumbai woke to heavy rains as Cyclone Ockhi will make landfall in Gujarat on Wednesday morning.

As precautionary measures schools in Mumbai and nearby districts have been closed today. The Government has kept rescue and relief teams on standby. Fishermen have been advised not to venture out into the sea.

Cyclone Ockhi had developed to a very severe status but now has weakened to a severe cyclone. It will soon make landfall at Surat and the Gulf of Khambat in Gujarat.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar donated Rs. 2 crores to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. The Minister made the donation to help the victims of Cyclone Ockhi after it battered the coasts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Although, Cyclone Ockhi moved away from Tamil Nadu and Kerala bad weather still might prevail. A well marked low pressure area near Southeast Bay of Bengal is likely to turn into a depression and head towards Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh by the 6th of December.
