Delhi: In a horrific incident, a 18-year-old boy was crushed to death by a speeding dumper in Lajpat Nagar and was dragged along with his scooty for 8km even when the police chased the truck. Two friends of the deceased who were on the scooty with him were hanging on to the side truck shouting for help.
An eye witness informed the police and helped them in chasing the truck. Police said the accused, Abdul Gaffur (32) and Saikulliya (23), were arrested from the spot. They were produced before a Delhi court, which sent them to 14-days’ judicial custody.
18-year-old boy who works as waiter was identified as Fawad Ahmad. The incident took place in the intervening hours of Monday and Tuesday, said police.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (southeast) M S Randhawa confirmed the incident and the arrests.
“Ahmad was dragged for nearly 9 km by the dumper, along with his Scooty and his friends,” he said.
