On the 29th of June, Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, promised to provide 300 units of free electricity. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) President Mr. Arvind Kejriwal said, every household in Punjab would get 300 units of electricity every month if his Party wins the upcoming elections.
In addition to the free electricity, the Arvind Kejriwal Party also promised 24 hour power supply and waiver of pending electricity bills in the State. It is to be noted, the power supply cost in Punjab is costliest in India.
The key promises were made by the Party President during a press meet in Punjab. While addressing the media, Mr. Arvind Kejriwal said, “We do not produce power in Delhi. We buy it from other states and despite that we have power in the national capital almost at the cheapest rates.” He said, “It is a guarantee of Kejriwal which will be fulfilled on the very first day of the AAP Government, unlike tall promises of Captain Amarinder Singh, that were never fulfilled.”
Speaking about the electricity issues, Arvind Kejriwal said, “People in every district are anxious about electricity bills. Even bills worth thousands are being given to poor people having one fan and two bulbs. Earlier, such was the situation in Delhi also, but now the situation has changed. We will do the same in Punjab. This is my guarantee.”
In Delhi, the Arvind Kejriwal led AAP Government is providing free electricity of 200 units to every household. However, in Punjab they promised 300 units of electricity.
With this approximately 80% of the population of Punjab would get zero electricity bills.
Meanwhile, Punjab is going to conduct the State Assembly elections for 117 seats in 2022.
