Delhi’s toxic smog continued to hang over the city for the third day. The deteriorating air quality led to the Capital declaring a pollution emergency.

The Capital banned the entry of trucks and construction activity. The odd and even car scheme is also brought back into action.
The Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal urged the farmers from Punjab and Haryana to stop burning waste in their preparation for the winter crop. Kejriwal has also asked the Chief Ministers of the two states to meet him for further discussions.

Delhi residents are suffering from headaches, coughs and smarting eyes. The government ordered all the 6,000 schools in Delhi to close for the rest of the week. A Delhi Government advisory has requested all the residents with breathing difficulties to remain indoors.

Environment Minister Harsh Vardhan said, “I’d like to assure people that the Central Government shall do everything possible to bring about improvement in air quality in Delhi and the Nation Capital Region.”

The Delhi CM will meet with the leaders of Haryana and Punjab to discuss a proper course of action.
