Amid the rising pollution in Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led Delhi Government announced to shut schools, from the 3rd of December.
Mr. Gopal Rai, the Environment Minister of Delhi, on the 2nd of December, addressed the media and announced the same. The current air pollution and worsening air quality index (AQI) of the National Capital, is seem to be dangerous for children, therefore the Government announced closure of classes until further notice.
The schools and colleges in Delhi, reopened recently on the 29th of November, after a gap of two weeks. While the schools will be closed, the ongoing CBSE exams would continue as per schedule, with the necessary precaution and safety measures.
The decision to close schools and education institutions came after the 24 hour ultimatum of the Supreme Court (SC.)
As per reports, the Supreme Court, on the 1st of December, gave a 24 hour ultimatum to the Centre, Delhi, and neighbouring states to act against rising air pollution.
