Farmers March To Mumbai: Farmer Delegates To Meet CM Fadnavis

A 20 member delegation with top leaders from All India Kisan Sabha will meet Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The All India Kisan Sabha listed out their demands on Twitter today.

The farmers are asking for a complete loan waiver and remunerative prices for agriculture produce. The tweet also demanded the implementation of the Swaminathan Commission’s recommendations and Forest Rights Act.

The farmers association has also asked for water in drought prone areas like Thane and Palghar districts. The association has asked for an increase in the pension schemes for the agricultural workers.

Yesterday, CM Fadnavis requested the farmers not to block traffic today because of crucial school exams. The huge group decided to give up on sleep and traveled through the night to reach Azad Maidan. They initially planned to march to the Maidan during the day but the CM’s request changed their plans.

A protesting farmer said he never had the chance for an education and understands the value of it. He said, “I understand the importance of education and our protest will not create problems for students as well as commuters.”

Once at the Maidan local volunteers from different welfare groups distributed food and water to the large group of protestors. The delegation of farmers reached the State Assembly in Mumbai and will meet the Chief Minister Fadnavis to discuss their demands.
