Mohammad Hanief, the father of a martyred Army jawan, Aurangzeb, on the 3rd of February, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)
On the 14th of June 2018, Aurangzeb, who was a part of the 44 Rashtriya Rifles, was killed by a terrorist group in Pulwama district, Jammu and Kashmir. Aurangzeb was on his way home to celebrate Eid, when a few terrorists kidnapped him. His body was later found with multiple gunshot wounds. Rifleman Aurangzeb was posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra.
Mr. Hanief said, “I have joined the BJP for its pro poor policies. Modi Government is the best in the country which thinks about the poor unlike the previous governments.”
Apart from Mr. Hanief, Lt. General Rakesh Kumar Sharma, a retired Army officer, also joined the BJP. Both the new members were welcomed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a public rally in Samba, Jammu and Kashmir.
Ravinder Raina, the BJP President of Jammu and Kashmir, earlier announced the joining of the two members.
BJP leaders such as Kavinder Gupta, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Avinash Rai Khanna, the National Vice President of the BJP, were present at the rally.
