First Part Of The Budget Session Comes To An Unproductive End

Today, the Lok Sabha was adjourned after 12 P.M., without getting any business done. The members from Andhra Pradesh and the Congress protested in the House forcing it to end the first half of the Budget Session.

The second half of the Budget Session will be convened on the 5th of March. On Friday, the first adjournment took place just minutes after the House met. As the House gathered members from the Telugu Desam Party and Yuvajana Shramika Rythu (YSR) Congress stood around Speaker Sumitra Mahajan’s podium and began shouting slogans. The parties are demanding justice for the State of Andhra Pradesh after the bifurcation.

The members continued to protest forcing Mahajan to adjourn the House till noon. Once the members gathered again at 12 P.M., the members still continued to shout slogans. To add fuel to fire the Congress party joined the protest to question the Rafale deal.

Speaker Mahajan had her hands tied and was forced to adjourn the House for the day. The Second part of the Budget Session will begin on the 6th of April.
