General Manoj Pande took over as the 29th Chief of the Army Staff on the 30th of April, Saturday.
General Manoj Pande succeeded incumbent General M.M. Naravane, who retired from services recently.
Speaking about General Manoj Pande’s early life, he was born on the 6th of May, 1962 and is the first officer from the Corps of Engineers to direct the army forces. Furthermore, highlighting the achievements of General Manoj Pande, prior to being the CAS, he was the vice chief of the Indian Army. He also headed the Eastern Army Command. He was also the Commander in Chief of the Andaman and Nicobar Command, which is the only tri services command in India.
The new CAS appointment came amid security challenges over the borders of India with Pakistan and China. Moreover, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is working to strengthen the Indian force, Navy, Army and Air. the newly appointed Gen Manoj Pande will also have to coordinate with the Indian Army, the Indian Navy Force and the Indian Air Force for Central Government’s plan to roll out theatre commands in India.
Meanwhile, General Manoj Pande would serve as the CAS for the next two years, 2024.
