Vijay Rupani, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, on the 15th of February, tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

Mr. Rupani was addressing a stage rally in Vadodara on the 14th of February. Mr. Rupani was delivering a speech for the upcoming Civic Poll in Gujarat, which is scheduled to be held on the 21st of February.

While delivering the speech CM Vijay Rupani collapsed and was immediately given first aid.

He was later flown to a hospital in Ahmedabad for a check up and was admitted.

A day after the incident, he tested COVID-19 positive.

As of now, Mr. Rupani is in a stable condition and under supervision of a doctors team at UN Mehta Hospital, Ahmedabad.

On the 15th of February, Dr. R.K. Patel, of the hospital said, “[Gujarat] CM Vijay Rupani is in stable condition and will be under observation for 24 hours. All tests have been done but it is advised that he should take rest so that we will keep him under observation.”

Besides Dr. R.K. Patel, Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel also addressed the media and updated about Mr. Rupani’s health.

Mr. Patel said, “Chief Minister Vijay Rupani fainted on stage while addressing an election rally in Vadodara today (Sunday). He was brought to Ahmedabad and admitted to UN Mehta hospital for a medical check-up. His health is completely fine and he will be kept under observation for 24 hours.”

In addition, the location where Mr. Rupani was delivering speech, 60 people tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus infection.

Meanwhile, in India, Gujarat is one of the worst affected COVID-19 states.

The total cases of COVID-19 cases in Gujarat is close to 2.65 lakhs with over 4,400 deaths and 1,739 active cases.
