26 year old Lalita Bansi had been the victim of an acid attack in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh. The attack left her face completely burnt because of which she has undergone 17 surgeries and still needs to get 12 more surgeries done.

Once Bansi dialed a wrong number and that person (Ravi Shankar Singh ) phoned her back on seeing the missed call. Ravi is a 27 year old person, who works as a CCTV operator in Malad. The two of them started speaking to each other every day over the phone.

Ravi said, “We spoke and I fell in love with her voice. Our conversations continued on a daily basis and in the process, I proposed to her.”

Lalita soon disclosed about her acid attack but that didn’t change the way he felt about her.

“She said she didn’t deserve me, and told me about the scarring attack. But even without seeing her, I knew I wanted to be with her, looks didn’t matter,” Ravi explained.

“I told her I was in love with her and would like to get married. Many couples fall in love with their partners’ face and eventually get divorced. With Bansi, I am not concerned about her face. She is a sweet person. I wish God blesses us for a lifetime,” Ravi said.

“It had always been my dream to do something different. I knew I would do something good. My mother supported me and my entire family. Didn’t know a wrong number would change my life entirely,” he added.

Eventually, Ravi and Lalita got married. Their wedding outfits were sponsored by fashion designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. Rushikesk Kadam, the founder of Udyami Maharashtra along with his friends sponsored Lalita and Ravi’s wedding. The Rotary Club of Shivaji Park gifted the couple Rs. 25,000.

Actor Vivek Oberoi gifted them a flat in Mumbai as their wedding gift. The actor said, “Amazing love story of my little sister Lalita Bansi, an acid attack survivor, who got married today to an amazing man Ravi Shankar who loves her for who she is.”

Today, Lalita is a member of the SAHAS Foundation, a Mumbai based organization that works for acid attack survivors which had helped her with her rehabilitation and marriage.
“Miracles do happen,” Lalita Bansi told the media, “Who would have thought an acid attack and 17 surgeries later, I would find love? But it happened.”
