The Indian National Congress (INC) on the 17th of July, accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for conspiring to topple the Ashok Gehlot Government in Rajasthan.

The INC also demanded a FIR against Gajendra Shekhawat, a leader of the BJP, alleging his involvement in horse trading of the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) of the INC in Rajasthan.

Randeep Singh Surjewala, the Spokesperson of the INC, on the 17th of July, conducted a press conference.

During the press conference, Mr. Surjewala presented a few call recordings in which INC MLA Bhanwarlal Sharma, Union minister Shekhawat and a BJP leader Sanjay Jain are purportedly talking about the “conspiracy” to topple the Rajasthan Government.

Surjewala also said the BJP offered money to the Rajasthan MLAs and asked to switch loyalties.

Mr. Randeep Singh asked for a FIR against the three leaders and demanded their arrest.

While Gajendra Shkhawat did not speak about the allegations, Bhanwarlal Sharma denied the allegations. He called the audio tapes to be fabricated to malign the image of Mr. Sharma.

Since last week, the Rajasthan Government is witnessing a  political turmoil, due to differences between Sachin Pilot, the former Deputy Chief Minister and Ashok Gehlot.

In regard to this, the INC sacked Sachin Pilot and two Cabinet ministers from their respective posts.

In addition, the Rajasthan Assembly Speaker C.P. Joshi issued a disqualification notice to Sachin Pilot and 18 other MLAs of the Rajasthan Government.

Meanwhile, the Sachin Pilot political team moved the Rajasthan High Court against the constitutional validity of the disqualification notice.

The matter is pending in the Rajasthan High Court.

The Rajasthan political turmoil may result in the destabilization of the Ashok Gehlot Government.

Rajasthan has 200 Assembly seats, of which 107 MLAs are of INC, 72 MLAs of the BJP and 21 independent MLAs.

Of the 21 MLAs, 18 supported the INC and 3 the BJP.

The majority mark to form the State Government is 101.

Rajasthan is witnessing similar scenes as the Madhya Pradesh Government, which fell out due to a few Congress MLAs switching their party loyalty to join the BJP.

As of now, the MLAs of the BJP formed the State Government in Madhya Pradesh

Similar thing happened in Karnataka, after the ruling party fell out due to the resignation of the Party MLAs.

Stay tuned for further updates.
