Sheila Dikshit, the chief of the Indian National Congress (INC) in Delhi, passed away on the 20th of July.
Sheila Dikshit, 80 years old, passed away around 3:30 P.M., at the Fortis Escorts Heart Institute in Delhi.
Ms. Dikshit was ill for a long time and was admitted to the hospital on the 18th of July, at 10:30 A.M.
People aware of her disease confirmed the death and said, Ms. Dikshit was on a ventilator after cardiac arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat.)
In 2018, Ms. Dikshit also underwent heart surgery in France. Since then she was suffering from respiratory health issues.
Sources said Dikshit had been undergoing treatment at the Fortis Escorts Heart Institute under the supervision of Dr. Ashok Seth, Chairman of the Fortis Escort Heart Institute, for the past few years.
Sheila Dikshit was one of the senior most leaders of the INC and also served as the Chief Minister of Delhi for 3 terms. She was also the Governor of Kerala in 2013.
Recently, Dikshit also contested the Lok Sabha elections as the Member of Parliament (MP) candidate.
After the news of Ms. Dikshit’s demise broke out on social media platforms, senior leaders, political parties and others took to Twitter to convey their condolences to Ms. Dikshit’s family.
