India Reports 73,272 Fresh COVID-19 Cases, Tally Nears 7 Millions

On the 10th of October, India reported 73,272 new Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases, close to 70 lakhs or 7 million cases. 

With today’s new cases update, this is the 10th day, India reported fresh cases below 80,000.

In the past few days, India is continuing on a steady trend of decline in the terms of the Novel Coronavirus.

The Union Health Ministry on the 10th of October released the updated number of cases which includes 73,272 new cases, 926 deceased and 82,753 recoveries.

The updated data is available on the official website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.)

According to the MoHFW, India has a total of 69,79,424 positive cases, of which 8,83,185 active cases, 59,88,822 recovered/discharged cases and 1,07,416 deceased.

While Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh remain the top five worst COVID-19 hit states, Telangana with 87.01% showed slight improvement.

Maharashtra’s tally crossed the 15 lakh mark with 12,134 fresh cases

As of Friday evening, Karnataka has total 6,90,269 cases, followed by Andhra Pradesh with the number of 7,44,864 cases including 47,665 active cases, 6,91,040 recoveries and 6,159 deaths so far.

The COVID-19 tally in Uttar Pradesh mounted to over 4.3 lakh after the state reported 3,249 fresh cases on the 9th of October.

On the other hand, as of the 9th of October, India tested more than 8,57,98,600 samples for COVID-19, including 11,64,018 samples tested in 24 hours.

The update over the sample tested of COVID-19 was confirmed by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR.)

In addition, India’s COVID-19 recovery rate is 85.52 % and mortality rate is 1.54 %.
