India Reports 991 New Cases Of Coronavirus In 24 Hours

India reported a total of 991 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 infection in India in less than 24 hours. 

Compared to the past few days, the number of cases in a day decreased.  Recently, India witnessed a spike of 1,200 cases in a day, which has decreased to 991.

With these updates, India reached a total of 14,710 positive cases of the Novel Coronavirus with 12,151 active cases, 2,063 recovery and 496 deaths till date.

According to sources, the highest number of cases are reported from Maharashtra, followed by Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan and Gujarat.

To curb the spread of the Novel Coronavirus, the Central Government imposed a 19 days extended lockdown, continuing till the 3rd of May.

The Central Government issued a set of guidelines to be followed during the lockdown.  Meanwhile, the Finance Ministry of India also strategized a few exemptions and packages for the small business, citizens of India, migrant labourers, BPL class and underprivileged people of the society, in the wake of the COVID-19.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) also announced a few relaxations for the commercial banks and  lenders in the country.

The Indian Railway also geared up and started the production of PPEs, masks and turned train coaches into isolation wards and beds.   The Railway department is serving meals to the needy and also transporting goods and commodities.

The Indian Government also announced a relaxation in production of horticulture and agriculture commodities in rural India as well as functioning of small industries producing essential items.

The relaxation on the imposed lockdown would be in effect from the 20th of April, after thorough scrutiny by state and union territory governments.
