India Wuhan Virus Updates: Reports 2.55 Lakh New Cases In 24 Hours

India, on the 25th of January, reported 2,55,874 new cases of the Wuhan virus (COVID-19) cases.

Besides new cases, the nation reported 614 deaths and 2,67,753 recoveries in the past 24 hours, confirmed the Union Health Department.  Notably, this is the first time in the past few days that the country reported below 3 lakh fresh Wuhan virus cases. 

With the new figures, India currently has 22,36,842 active cases, 4,89,848 death cases and 3,70,71,898 recovered/discharged cases of the Wuhan virus.  The new updates were confirmed and are available on the official website of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.)

In addition, the active cases’ positivity rate is at 15.5% and recovery rate is 93.15% and fatality rate is 1.23%.  The new variant of the Wuhan virus, Omicron, also increased, taking the overall tally to over 10,000 in India.  Maharashtra, Delhi, West Bengal, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh are said to be the worst COVID-19 hit states. 

Moreover, the nationwide vaccination drive has administered 162.92 crore Wuhan virus vaccination doses till date. 

In addition, to control the spread of the virus and its new variant, the respective state governments imposed restrictions like night curfew, weekend curfew, partial lock down and strict curbs.  The Union Health Ministry also alerted people to be cautious and follow Wuhan virus protocols and is ready with health infrastructure, to tackle the third wave of the pandemic, which is expected to peak in February mid.
