IndiGo And GoAir Cancel 65 Flights After Ban On A320Neo Planes

IndiGo and GoAir canceled about 65 flights after the Ministry of Aviation grounded all the A320Neo planes. The Director General of Civil Aviation announced it was due to the faulty engines from Pratt & Whitney. This issue has caused inconvenience to multiple flyers.

The budget carrier IndiGo based in Gurugram canceled 47 of its flights while GoAir canceled 18 flights today. GoAir operates about 230 flights per day and announced the flight cancellation over 8 cities.

The cities with flights cancelled are Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Patna, Srinagar, Amritsar, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati and Bhubaneswar.

IndiGo has given the option to cancel the flight with a full refund or pick another flight with no additional cost. The statement from the airlines read, “IndiGo has cancelled certain flights due to the grounding of our aircraft further to the DGCA directions which has been issued in the interest of safety.”

It further added, “While we understand that this may cause inconvenience to some of our passengers, given that we have multiple flights to the same destination, we are proactively re accommodating all our affected passengers on other flights.”

The Aviation Ministry decided to ban these engines after a flight was forced to land due to engine failure mid air on Monday. The Ministry cited safety reasons and asked for all flights with A320Neos with PW1100 engines be grounded immediately.
