The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Court permitted Irani Mukerjea to file a FIR against Byculla jail officials who allegedly assaulted her. The court also ordered a medical examination of Mukerjea.

Indrani accused the officials and said that she was beaten up in the jail and was also threatened with assault as she protested “the cold-blooded murder in custody” of an inmate.

Indrani also said that the superintendent hit her(Mukerjea) and used unparliamentary language when she tried to ask what happened with Shetye. Indrani told the CBI Court, “The official said, tu witness banne ja rahi hain mere khilaf? Jo uske (Shetye) saath hua woh tere sath bhi hoga. (Are you going to testify against me? You will meet the same fate as hers).”

Advocate Gunjan Mangla and Sudeep Pasbola made a plea saying that Mukerjea should be allowed to record her statement if necessary before the magistrate. Indrani has provided her consent for the same and agreed to be a witness.

The Mumbai Police Crime Branch took over the case and is probing into the woman convict, Shetye.
