The IPL 2018 finals were held yesterday night but even though SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) lost. Their Captain Kane Williamson praised Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all rounder Shane Watson.
Shane Watson’s spectacular performance amounted to an unbeaten score of 117 runs. This led to the CSK winning their third IPL title. Williamson said, “Yes, I think so, that was a brilliant innings. Anyone who turns out with an innings of 100 plus in the final was obviously a significant effort, a great contribution to their side and it was very difficult to stop him.”
The SunRisers Captain further added, “And for a large part of the game, there was a lot of good stuff. But as I mentioned Watson’s innings, it was an unbelievable effort.”
Williamson went on to state his team’s 178 for 6 was a competitive score. However, he congratulated the CSK for sailing through their bad beginning. The CSK team was 20 for 1 after 5 overs but Watson began smashing the balls out of the field.
The Captain further stated, “Credit to the way CSK played, they showed their experience and got through that period and took the game away from us. You have to applaud good cricket and that was CSK and their batting. They were outstanding and did not give us opportunities.”
The SRH Captain was compensated with the Orange Cap by securing the highest runs in this IPL season. The CSK team beat the SRH team for the fourth time by 8 wickets. The CSK and SRH teams played against each other in three matches before the finals and CSK won each time.
